The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been praised for its outstanding contributions to promoting national unity, integration, and socio-economic development since its inception.
Eddy Megwa, the director of press at the NYSC headquarters said this in a statement on Friday.
The commendation came from Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Orientation Workshop held in Kaduna.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajia Rabi Salisu, acknowledged the NYSC’s efforts in encouraging patriotism and aiding national development among graduate youths.
He commended the NYSC for organizing the workshop, which aims to evaluate the Scheme’s performances and improve its efficiency.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, emphasized the importance of the workshop in reviewing previous Orientation Courses, identifying areas for improvement, and enhancing the overall performance of subsequent programs.
He urged participants to leverage the workshop to achieve a hitch-free program.
The Director General also acknowledged the invaluable support of stakeholders to the Scheme, encouraging participants to capitalize on the resources available.
The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka, noted that the Orientation Camp creates a lasting impression on Corps Members, hence the need for proactive measures to create a wonderful experience.
The workshop was attended by NYSC Top Management, Camp Directors, State Coordinators, and other stakeholders from across the country.
