In Delta State, one Eunice Onyekpe has been subjected to a brutal, horrific and dehumanising treatment by her kindred over allegation adultery.
Onyekpe, a mother of four, was stripped naked, chained, and viciously flogged by rampaging local youths before being banished from her community.
The troubling and barbaric incident happened in Iselegu, located in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the oil-rich State.
Social media influencer and renowned activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, confirmed repulsive and abhorrent incident.
He shared a video of the torture and dehumanization on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
According to Gwamnishu, Onyekpe’s husband accused her of infidelity and reported her to the youths in the community, which led to the violent act.
As reported by Linda Ikeji’s Blog, the victim persistently and vehemently denied the allegations of adultery but her refutation did forestall the unconscionable treatment meted out to her.
Despite her denial and plea of innocence, the community’s youths took laws into their hands and proceeded with the severe punishment, bringing once again to the front burner a grave issue of mob justice and human rights violations in the region.
