Boko Haram terrorists wreaking havoc in Nigeria’s north east region have abducted a High Court Judge, Justice Haruna Mshelia, in Borno State.

The justice’s wife, driver and orderly were also kidnapped by the rampaging terrorists.

Justice Mshelia is said to work with Borno State High Court in Maiduguri.

They were all abducted on Monday, June 24, 2024. along Biu to Maiduguri road, sources familiar with the incident disclosed.

Sources said the justice was travelling in his vehicle, accompanied by his driver, a security escort and his wife when the terrorists struck.

As they approached a bend on the road between Buratai and Buni-gari, a group of armed men emerged from the bush and blocked the road.

The judge’s vehicle screeched to a halt, then attempted to manoeuvre its way to escape.

Unfortunately, in the commotion that ensued, Justice Mshelia’s vehicle was stopped by another team of insurgents, taken them hostage and later whisked them into Sambisa Forest.

Recall that Damaturu- Buni Yadi -Buratai- Biu 120kms road has remained a death trap for many years, considering it’s deplorable condition faced by motorists and passengers, as it is the only route that links over five local government areas of Southern Borno (Biu, Hawul, Bayo, Shani, Kwaya Kusar etc) to Maiduguri, the state capital due to inability to reopen the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu road
