  • It’s gathered that Rahemat became forlorn and frustrated due to repeated miscarriages and had fabricated the kidnapping story

The missing pregnant woman in Ogun State, Rahemat Lateef, has been found with authorities claiming she staged her abduction.

Recall that Lateef was declared missing after she was reportedly kidnapped on her way to the State General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, to deliver her baby.

Rahemat, who was believed to have been kidnapped, was never abducted, rather, she fled to Kwara State to evade her husband’s ire after having a miscarriage.

It’s gathered that Rahemat became forlorn and frustrated due to repeated miscarriages and had fabricated the kidnapping story.

Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, had claimed he received a WhatsApp message notifying him of his wife’s abduction by unknown persons.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, on Monday, provided an update on the incident and said Rahemat was found in Kwara State with her father.

She stated that the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit had begun tracking her until she reappeared.

Odutola added that the story of being abduction was conjured up by Rahemat.

Odutola said, “Rahemat Lateef, who was reported abducted by her husband, was never kidnapped. Instead, she planned her journey to Kwara State to escape her husband’s wrath, following repeated miscarriages.

“She fabricated the story herself, traveled to Kwara State, and was far from being kidnapped. After experiencing a miscarriage and becoming frustrated due to its repeated occurrence, she feared her husband’s reaction and orchestrated the narrative. The Anti-Kidnapping Team had begun tracking her until she reappeared.

“She is now under medical attention and is safe,” she added.
