- The party condemns Presidential Jet Purchase
- The PRP calls for responsible spending
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed outrage over the federal government’s decision to purchase new airplanes for the Presidential fleet, citing the country’s economic struggles and the need for prudent spending.
In a statement byMuhammed Ishaq, Actiing National Publicity Secretary of the PRP, on June 24, 2024, the PRP described the move as “insensitive” and “profligate,” saying it prioritizes luxury over the welfare of the people.
The party urged the government to focus on addressing poverty, unemployment, and economic stagnation instead of indulging in lavish spending.
The PRP highlighted examples of China and the United States, which have used their presidential jets for 24 and 34 years, respectively, questioning why Nigeria needs to replace its 19-year-old jet.
The party accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly of living in an “ivory tower” and perpetuating a government that caters to their interests rather than the people’s.
The PRP demands that the government reconsider this expenditure and prioritize delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians.
The party calls on all citizens to join them in condemning this reckless spending spree and demanding better governance.
