The Managing Director and CEO of Microsoft Nigeria plc, Mrs Ola Williams, has refuted rumours that Microsoft plans to exit Nigeria. She clarified this during a meeting with Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, Director General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), and other ICT companies in Lagos.

Williams emphasized that Microsoft is dedicated to the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem. She praised NOTAP for its significant role in advancing the country’s ICT sector.

At the meeting, Amadiobi warned that companies failing to submit their technology transfer agreements to NOTAP for evaluation and registration would face severe penalties and prosecution. She highlighted that many Nigerian companies operate on imported technologies worth millions of dollars without NOTAP registration, which is required by law. This, she noted, undermines the Nigerian economy.

Despite the circulating rumours, Williams’ assurance underscores Microsoft’s commitment to supporting and growing Nigeria’s ICT sector.
