AFCON 2025 Qualifiers

The Super Eagles will get another shot at redemption against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in Abidjan, as both teams have been drawn together in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The draw, which took place yesterday, sets the stage for both teams to compete for a spot among the 24 nations set to play in the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Nigeria, placed in Pot 1 before the main draw, will face Benin, Libya, and Rwanda in Group D. Only the top two teams will advance to the AFCON finals.

Interestingly, Nigeria is also competing against Benin and Rwanda in Group C for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Currently, Benin and Rwanda lead their qualifying group with seven points each, having won two matches and drawn one in their first four games. Nigeria is four points behind, with three draws and one loss, following a slower start.

The Super Eagles will need to improve their performance to secure their place in the upcoming tournaments.
