- The suspects allegedly cloned Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s social media accounts and deceived his followers into sending money for various false purposes
Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested three suspected fraudsters – Odion Victor, Amos Godwin, and Ayomide Michael – for impersonating Evangelist Chukwuebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach on social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
According to a statement released on Friday by the EFCC, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence that revealed how they allegedly cloned Evangelist Ebuka Obi’s social media accounts. They deceived many of his church members into giving money for the treatment of purportedly sick individuals, sowing seeds for spiritual breakthroughs, or for special prayers, with the funds being deposited into the fraudsters’ bank accounts.
The EFCC statement also mentioned that the three suspects would be charged in court after investigations.
