- The campaign director of Atiku/Lado in Katsina attributed the PDP’s ongoing crisis to actions by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT
- Stakeholders in Katsina accused a faction led by the 2023 governorship candidate of concealing the party’s Congress forms, seeking to control the state structure
Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, the campaign director of Atiku/Lado in Katsina State during the 2023 general elections, has attributed the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to actions by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Dr. Inuwa made this statement during a stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina, where issues related to the party’s crisis in the state were discussed. The meeting addressed accusations by some stakeholders in Katsina against a faction led by the 2023 governorship candidate, Yakubu Lado Danmarke. This faction, allegedly supported by the state caretaker committee appointed by the national working committee, is accused of concealing the party Congress forms.
The stakeholders’ meeting revealed concerns about the clandestine distribution of congress forms, with claims that one individual seeks to control the entire state structure of the party.
Dr. Inuwa highlighted, “It is common knowledge that both Wike and Ortom have declared that they have no presidential candidate to support in the 2027 elections but endorsed President Tinubu. Their main aim was not to win the election but to weaken the party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 election in favour of President Tinubu, and that is why they are using stooges in the state to fulfil their mission.”
The meeting, chaired by Sen. Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, former national secretary of the PDP, resolved to take all necessary measures to salvage the party in Katsina before the upcoming congresses.
