A man identified as Nuhu Ezra has been arrested with a human skull and bones in a community in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
The arrest took place around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by Josephine Adeh, the FCT Command Police Public Relations Officer, it was revealed that the police acted on credible intelligence to track and arrest the suspect.
The suspect claimed he found the human skull and bones in the bush while hunting in the Kuje area of the territory. He confessed that he intended to sell the body parts for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000).
The statement reads in part, “The operatives of the FCT police command attached to Iddo police division on July 9, 2024, at about 9:00 p.m., acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested one Nuhu Ezra ‘m’ of Gosa Kipikipi village, Lugbe, Abuja, with a human skull and bones.
“The suspect, who was found with the body parts upon interrogation, stated that he picked them up from the bush while hunting at Kuje and had the intention to sell the body parts for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000).”
“While the commissioner of police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, has ordered that a thorough investigation be conducted to ascertain the bearer of the body parts, the intended buyer, if the suspect killed anyone to be in possession of the body parts, and how long the suspect has been in the alleged business, he urges residents to be wary of their environment and report suspicious activities through the police emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653 PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192,”
