- The FIFA Council serves as the principal decision-making body of the organization between FIFA Congress meetings
President Bola Tinubu has expressed strong support for Nigeria’s bid for re-election to the FIFA Council.
The President’s backing of the country’s candidate was announced in a statement by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
The FIFA Council serves as the principal decision-making body of the organization between FIFA Congress meetings.
The Council is composed of 37 members elected by the FIFA Congress for a renewable term of four years.
Mr. Amaju Pinnick, who served two terms as President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), was elected to the Council in March 2021, following in the footsteps of the late Oyo Orok Oyo and Dr. Amos Adamu.
Mr. Pinnick is seeking re-election to the Council, and President Tinubu supports his bid to retain Nigeria’s seat on the Council.
