BUA Cement Plc has clarified that the truck involved in the Anambra accident does not belong to the company.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the cement producer addressed numerous online reports and a circulating video alleging that a BUA Cement truck was involved in the incident.

The accident occurred on Tuesday at the Green Energy Oil and Gas filling station in Eke Awgbu, Anambra state, involving a truck loaded with cement. Reports indicated that five people lost their lives.

BUA Cement extended its condolences to the families of the victims but confirmed that the truck in question is not part of its fleet.

The systement partly said: “We have received numerous online reports, which were also published in the Tribune newspapers, as well as a video in circulation, linking a purported BUA Cement truck with the unfortunate accident that occurred on Agulu-Agwubu Road in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State,” BUA Cement said.

“While we sincerely commiserate with the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident, we intend to set the record straight as the truck in question does not belong to BUA.

“The truck involved in the accident in Anambra State on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, is not in any way a BUA Cement truck. BUA Cement trucks are marked with our logo and truck numbers.

*This applies to all BUA trucks for easy identification as standard practice by manufacturing companies that run truck services. Also, the truck involved in the report by Tribune is neither owned nor operated by BUA Cement Plc.”

According to the company, the bulk of its cement products are sold ex-factory, with customers responsible for the transportation of the cement from the plants to their intended destinations.”
