The Initiative for Good Leadership and Development has sounded the alarm over the deplorable state of the Bauchi-Gombe road, urging the Federal Government and state authorities to take immediate action.
The group disclosed this in a statement issued by Tasi’u Muhammad Pantami, its Public Relations Officer, made available to WITHIN NIGERIA on Thrusday.
The road, which connects the two states, has deteriorated to the point of becoming a “death trap,” according to the group.
Frequent accidents have resulted in loss of lives and properties, causing untold hardship for commuters.
The group’s Public Relations Officer, Tasi’u Muhammad Pantami, lamented that the road’s poor condition is not only endangering lives but also hindering economic growth in the region.
“The road is in a total state of disrepair, making it difficult for people to travel and transport goods,” he said.
The group emphasized the importance of road infrastructure for development, noting that it facilitates trade, connects communities, and promotes tourism.
They called on the government to prioritize the reconstruction of the road, which has been neglected for years.
The plea comes as a desperate cry for help from commuters who have suffered long enough on the treacherous road, adding that the government’s response remains to be seen.
