President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Umar Mohammed as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency.
The announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement issued on Saturday.
Mr. Mohammed, an architect and expert in construction technology and environmental management, is expected to enhance the agency’s operations.
His role includes overseeing the maintenance of hydrological stations across Nigeria, conducting groundwater exploration, and utilizing scientific methods to gather essential hydrological and hydrogeological data.
The statement said, “The President expects improved outcomes in the agency’s objective of operating and maintaining hydrological stations nationwide, as well as carrying out groundwater exploration and monitoring using various scientific techniques in order to provide hydrological and hydrogeological data needed for planning, design, execution and management of water resources and allied projects.”
