- Dangote sold his London House in 1996
- Nigerian billionaire avoids distraction
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has shared that his commitment to an industrialised Nigeria is the sole reason he does not own houses outside the country.
Speaking at a media parley at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Dangote disclosed that he once owned a house in London, which he sold in 1996.
“The reason I don’t have a house in London or America is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialisation in Nigeria,” Dangote explained. “I figured that if I had those houses, there would be one reason or another for me to visit those places, thereby causing distraction.”
Dangote reiterated his passion for the Nigerian dream, stating, “Apart from my house in Lagos, I have another one in my home state Kano and a rented one in Abuja.”
