Sanwo Olu, governor of Lagos, says he will approve N5 billion for the construction of the National Youth Service Corps permanent orientation camp.
He also gifted all Batch B Stream 1 corps members the sum of N100,000 each.
Speaking during the closure of the orientation camp in Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu also promised automatic employment into the civil service for 100 corps members after their service year.
“I cannot just come here, watch the very outstanding parade that I’ve seen here at this point. Please give them another round of applause. You truly, truly, really deserve a permanent site,” Sanwo Olu said.
“And so this year alone, I’ll be putting available a total of five billion that’ll be used to start the full development of the permanent site for NYSC.
“For this batch, we have 4,254 and so with all sense of responsibility, and because you’ve been very hardworking, each and every one of you will go home with 100,000 Naira.
“It will be made available in your account by next, your directors will credit you, don’t worry, this is how we do in Lagos.
“Final notes, because we are a performance-driven government.Because we’re sensitive to what is expected of each and every one of you neighbors. I will be monitoring this particular batch. This particular batch is now my home. I will be monitoring this particular batch.
“At the end of your time, I will, with your director, the best 100 corps members out of this batch will get automatic employment in the neighborhood state public service.
