Two Nigerian migrants have been apprehended for allegedly assaulting a fellow Nigerian and throwing him off the roof of a building, resulting in his death.

The Migrant Rescue Watch, in a statement on its X account, disclosed that the suspects were arrested in Brak, a town in the Wadi al Shatii District in west-central Libya, on Monday, July 15, 2024.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of migrants in the region. Authorities in Libya are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault and subsequent death.

“Police in Brak arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality (‘J.H.’ born 2002 & ‘A.M.’ born 1994) responsible for assaulting another Nigerian #migrant (‘Z.M.’).

“The victim after being thrown from roof of a building suffered injuries,” it said.

According to MRW, the migrant died despite receiving medical assistance.

“Both accused were referred to public prosecutor for legal action,” the statement read.
