Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) yesterday thwarted an attempt by bandits to kidnap residents of El-Rufai Estate in Bwari Area Council.

During the confrontation, one resident was injured in the crossfire. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the kidnappers attempted to infiltrate the estate. A fierce gun battle ensued, lasting 30 minutes, and ultimately forced the bandits to flee.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident. “We received a distress call and mobilized operatives, who swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with bullet wounds,” she said.

Adeh urged the public to report anyone seen with bullet wounds to the police.
