Rice Relief: FG’s 20 Trucks Yet To Arrive In Zamfara – State Govt

The information Minister had said this is the first step as the government takes steps to address the issue of food shortage in the country

The Zamfara state government has said it is yet to receive the 20 trucks of rice allocated by the federal government.

On Saturday, Comrade Nuhu Salisu Anka, Director General of Media and Communication, told journalists in a telephone interview.

He added that the federal government had earlier announced the dispatch of the consignments to state governments.

“Zamfara State is yet to receive its allocation of 20 trucks of rice, which was approved by the Federal Government,” he added.

He stated that the moment the consignments arrive, he will ensure that journalists are notified about the arrival of the allocation to Zamfara State.

Recall that the federal government said, on Monday, that it had dispatched 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

Idris, who appealed to state governors to ensure equitable distribution of the rice to those who need it the most, said each state and the FCT had received 20 trucks containing 1,200 bags of 25kg of rice.
