- Businesswoman Eze Queen Ogechi was arrested in connection with this shipment
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have seized illicit substances in Lagos, including cocaine and synthetic cannabis known as Loud, concealed in incense candles, game packs, and dry leaves.
The drugs were intended for smuggling through Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA). NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest of several suspects.
On July 18, businessman Abdulwahab Owolabi Alebiosu was apprehended at his Lekki residence after 40 parcels of Loud, hidden in game packs from Canada, were intercepted at the airport. A search of his home also yielded drug paraphernalia and a truck.
The following day, NDLEA operatives at the NAHCO export shed intercepted bags destined for Pakistan, concealing four parcels of cocaine and 14 of Loud. Businesswoman Eze Queen Ogechi was arrested in connection with this shipment.
Additionally, on July 18, a Beninese passenger, Orobi Adoubi Amen, was detained at MMIA for attempting to smuggle eight parcels of Loud concealed in native dresses.
NDLEA Chairman Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) praised the officers for their efforts and urged continued vigilance in combating drug trafficking.
