Major General Shuaibu Waidi, Theater Commander of North East ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, has handed over another rescued Chibok schoolgirl, Ihi Abdul, along with her two children and 330 women and children, to the Borno State government.

These individuals were rescued from Boko Haram terrorists during various operations in the Sambisa Forest.

During a briefing at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, General Waidi stated, “Today we will be witnessing two events: the handover of the rescued Chibok girl and the handover of other women and children to the officials of the Borno State Government for further management.”

General Waidi emphasized the ongoing efforts to rescue the remaining Chibok girls still in captivity, guided by the strategic direction from the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Toaheed Lagbaja.

He expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Chief of Army Staff, which was instrumental in the successful rescue operations.

“The plight of the remaining Chibok girls continues to capture national attention, prompting several military operations deep into terrorist enclaves aimed at facilitating their rescue. So far, 19 Chibok girls have been rescued as a result of direct military operations,” General Waidi said.

He reiterated that ongoing military operations across the theater are crucial to achieving the mandate of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, which aims to restore normalcy in the region and ensure the resumption of socio-economic activities.
