A yet-to-identified woman has died in a commercial tricycle popularly called Keke Marwa in Lagos State.

She died last Friday while in transit at Isheri, Idimu area of the south-west State.

It is gathered that deceased had boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road and was heading to the Isheri end of the area.

On getting to her destination, the tricycle rider was said to have notified her to alight but got no answer.

The rider was aghast when she later discovered that she was not responding and had become motionless.

According to PUNCH, the rider called the attention of passersby who rushed to the scene and realised that the passenger was no longer breathing.

“I was close to the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. When we moved close to the spot, we saw a woman placing her head on the middle of the barricade of the tricycle unresponsive.

“The rider said he was supposed to drop her at Isheri which is the last bus stop for tricycle riders along the area and when they got there, the rider expected her to step out and pay her fare only to find out that she wasn’t responding. That was when he raised the alarm. The place was crowded as it appeared strange.” Punch quoted an eyewitness as saying.

Another eyewitness who identified himself simply as Sodiq said efforts were made by some of the residents in the area to revive her but all proved abortive.

He added that the police later arrived at the scene, making people quickly desert the spot.

He said, “People tried their best to see if they could revive her but could not. It was not too long that the police arrived and the people around had to leave the spot to avoid being implicated.”

“Some said she might have been suffering from an ailment or she could have died of a heart attack,” Sodiq added.

It was gathered that the tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station while the deceased was taken to an undisclosed hospital in the area.
