Oyo State to provide health insurance for 10,000 pupils

Dr. Sola Akande, Executive Secretary of the Agency, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB), on Wednesday

The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency has announced plans to provide health insurance coverage for 10,000 pupils in the state. This initiative aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s integrated approach to education.

Dr. Sola Akande, Executive Secretary of the Agency, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB), on Wednesday.

“This visit is very timely as the agency is ready to embark on the enrollment and validation of 10,000 pupils who will benefit from the Oyo State health insurance policy,” said Dr. Akande. He emphasized that the pupils would greatly benefit from the program.

In response, Dr. Adeniran assured that OyoSUBEB would prioritize the enrollment exercise. He highlighted that the insurance policy, the first of its kind in the country, would serve as a model for other southwestern states.

Adeniran also revealed that a six-man committee has been established between the two agencies to finalize the implementation details and expedite the process. The insurance policy is set to be launched in September, coinciding with the start of the new school session.
