Cletus Alake was trailed to his shop

A businessman, Cletus Alake, was brutally murdered by armed robbers on Monday morning in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

Alake was trailed to his shop opposite Ekeki Park, where the assailants cornered him and stabbed him multiple times until he died.

Reports indicate the robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money, the deceased’s mobile phone, and his Highlander jeep parked outside the shop.

At the scene around 9 am, residents, shop owners, and motorists mourned the loss of Alake, who was popularly known as “Mr. MTN” due to his role as a major distributor of MTN cards.

Alake, in his late 40s, owned First Choice Communication and a Point of Sale (POS) shop. He was known as a quiet businessman with several other ventures in the metropolis.

Confirming the incident, Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman ASP Musa Mohammed said an investigation has begun.
