Oyo teen arraigned for allegedly stealing phone in mosque

A 19-year-old man, Karim Sodiq, appeared before the Ona-Ara Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday, charged with stealing a mobile phone from a mosque.

Prosecutor Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi stated that the incident occurred on May 21 at around 7:50 p.m. at Oju-Aba Mosque in the Moniya area of Ibadan.

The defendant allegedly broke into the mosque and stole an Infinix Smart 6 phone valued at N100,000, belonging to Akorede Suliyat.

The offences are said to violate Sections 415 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. Magistrate Ayorinde Ayo-Alagbe granted Sodiq bail in the sum of N200,000, requiring two reliable sureties of the same amount.

The case has been adjourned until August 15 for further hearing.
