- Violations will result in site closures
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has banned workers from sleeping overnight at construction sites to safeguard the industry.
General Manager Gbolahan Oki announced the directive, emphasizing construction hours are from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
Violations will result in site closures.
LASBCA spokesperson Olaoye Olusegun stated that officials will begin night inspections across the state.
Oki urged developers to employ professionals like architects and engineers, warning that non-compliant sites will be sealed.
Buildings under construction for the last seven months must be re-certified for structural stability. Property owners without valid planning permits are advised to regularize them.
This comes after a two-storey building collapse in Maryland, Lagos, resulted in four fatalities.
