Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists, who are wreaking havoc in Nigeria’s north east state of Borno, have struck again.
The terrorists on Sunday attacked Jakana Police station in Konduga Local Government Area of the beleaguered State leaving in their wake trails of death and destruction.
The armed non-state actors killed a policeman and a woman and also made away arms and ammunition during the deadly raid, daily trust reports.
The insurgents also reportedly set ablaze two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle.
The daredevil assailants were said to have caught the security operatives off guard, they arrived at the police station around 1:00am and engaged in a gun duel with the officers until 3:00 am
“They overpowered them and gained access into the police station and looted arms and ammunition and destroyed 2 patrol vehicles.”
“One of the vehicles belong to the police and the other for the members of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF)” a source said.
Chairman of Konduga Local government, Hon Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the attack to journalists, but gave no detailed information about the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State command, Nahun Kenneth, has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
