Students from tertiary institutions in Ogun State, represented by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), announced they will not participate in the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest starting today.
During a rally in Abeokuta, the students expressed concerns that the protest, scheduled from August 1 to 10 across the country, might be hijacked by hoodlums, leading to chaos and disrupting peace. NAOSS National President, Thomas Kehinde, called on students to avoid the protest, emphasizing their intention to remain peaceful.
Kehinde stated, “Though we are not against any group protesting, we will not be part of these protests. We urge students to shun any calls to participate in nationwide protests.” He warned that protests could escalate into violence, drawing parallels to the EndSARS protests.
