Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has labelled the recent hardship protests across Nigeria as a political tool to force regime change. Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, Abiodun argued that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the election significantly, suggesting that those seeking a change in government should wait until the next election in 2027.
He remarked, “Tinubu won that election convincingly, indicating that more people wanted him as president than those who didn’t. The issue we face today is that Nigerians are sore losers. If you want a regime change, wait until 2027. Don’t sponsor faceless, leaderless protests under the guise of dissatisfaction.”
Abiodun noted that Nigeria’s current hardships are not unique. He referenced recent protests in Ghana and the UK, emphasizing that drastic measures do not solve current challenges. “The medicine for a headache is not to cut off the head,” he added.
The governor urged Nigerians to work together and engage in constructive dialogue, highlighting that the country has a responsive administration to address their concerns.
