  • The protesters were denied entrance into the park after some of their leaders backed out of the public demonstration

Suspected hoodlums on Sunday disrupted the ongoing nationwide protest in Lagos State.

The hoodlums reportedly chased away the #EndBadGovernance protesters from the Freedom Park in Ojota area of the State.

The protesters were denied entrance into the park after some of their leaders backed out of the public demonstration.

The withdrawal of their leaders followed the national broadcast of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who called for dialogue.

It was learnt that while some leaders of the protesters agreed to suspend the demonstration on Sunday morning, a few of them insisted on continuing and proceeded to the park.

One of the protesters who spoke with newsmen stated the hoodlums arrived brandishing weapons after the supposed leader of the protest had left.

“The hoodlums just came from nowhere after some of our leaders had left and those area boys were brandishing dangerous weapons and we all had to run to different directions.” Daily Trust quoted one of the protesters as saying.

Tinubu had on Sunday morning appealed to Nigerians, who have taken to the streets since August 1 to express their discontent over the parlous state of the nation, to shelve the protest and dialogue with the government.
