Mr Babatunde Osibodu, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, has announced November 16 2024, for the conduct of local government area elections in the state.

Osibodu said this in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Osibodu said Thursday, August 8, 2024, is scheduled for the release of guidelines for the conduct of the elections and stakeholders meeting while campaigns by the political parties begin on Friday, August 9.

The statement added that “the political parties are also scheduled to hold their party primaries between Monday, August 26 to Monday, September 9, 2024”.

Recall that the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Mr Kayode Akinmade, had last month described as fake news a statement circulating on social media announcing that the next local government elections in the state will be held on October 26, 2024.

The elected local government officials completed their tenure about a week ago.
