The Bauchi State Chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly denounced the excessive force and brutality exhibited by security operatives during a recent protest in Azare Town, Katagum LGA of Bauchi State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Hon. Abdulazeez Haruna, the Bauchi State Secretary of the party.
The protest, which aimed to end bad governance, was marred by violence, looting, and vandalism, resulting in property damage and injuries to innocent bystanders.
In a disturbing incident, a police officer was seen shooting a protester in broad daylight, with video evidence showing the victim being brutally tortured before being killed.
The PRP has demanded immediate action from the authorities to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime.
The party expressed outrage over the impunity and disdain with which citizens are treated in a democratic society.
They urged the government to hold security operatives accountable for their actions and implement measures to prevent such atrocities from recurring.
The PRP reaffirmed its support for peaceful protests as a means of promoting positive change and calls on citizens to exercise their fundamental rights to free speech and assembly.
