The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has offered the party has a viable alternative to the ruling APC and PDP, promising to provide solutions to Nigeria’s pressing problems and alleviate the country’s economic hardship.

The party also called for a full investigation into the use of live ammunition by security agencies, resulting in loss of lives and limbs of protesters.

In a statement by the party’s national chairman, Falalu Bello, commended Nigerian youths for their peaceful protests across the country,

Bello condemned rioters who infiltrated the demonstrations to cause chaos and destruction.

The party specifically praised the protesters for their peaceful conduct, particularly in Ibadan, Oyo State, where they made their demands for good governance clear.

However, the party strongly condemned the rioters who hijacked the protests in Kano and Kaduna States, causing destruction and stealing from ordinary Nigerians.

The PRP demanded legislation to define rules of engagement between protesters and security agencies, prohibiting the use of live ammunition in future protests.

The party believes that the use of live ammunition to control protests must be stopped.

In response to President Bola Tinubu’s address to the nation on August 4th, 2024, the PRP noted that while the president acknowledged the protesters’ demands and reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles and human rights, he failed to apologize for the economic hardship his administration has caused or address the nation’s pressing issues, such as increased corruption, insecurity, and wasteful expenditures.

The PRP said that the government address the concerns of the protesters by reducing the cost of living, cutting the cost of governance, prosecuting corruption cases, addressing insecurity, and stopping wasteful expenditures.

The party also highlighted its existence as an alternative to the ruling APC and PDP, which have failed Nigerians in the last 25 years.

The PRP claims to have solutions to the nation’s problems and will soon unveil its programs and policies.

Finally, the PRP called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to vote out the APC government in the next election and bring in a new administration that will prioritize good governance and empathy for citizens.
