Former PDP candidate, Comr. Usman Okai Austin, has demanded that the Kogi State government, led by Governor Usman Ododo, account for the 20 trucks of rice sent by the federal government to alleviate food scarcity.

The federal government’s initiative aimed to address food insecurity in states severely impacted by economic challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic, including Kogi.

However, Okai expressed concern over the state government’s silence on the matter, stating that it raises suspicions and undermines trust.

“Citizens have the right to know the status of the rice and how it will be distributed, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability,” he said.

Okai emphasized that the rice distribution is a vital lifeline for many families struggling to make ends meet and demands that the government ensures its fair distribution.

He urged Governor Ododo to take immediate action and provide clarity on the situation, warning that silence is unacceptable.

Okai also stressed the need for credible individuals to oversee the distribution process to prevent past mistakes where aids were diverted or sold.

He emphasized that the rice is meant for all citizens, regardless of political affiliations, and should not be politicized.

Okai’s call for action resonates with the concerns of Kogi State residents who demand transparency and accountability in government operations.
