- Commissioner Aisha Mahmud stated that complaints will be resolved on the spot during town hall meetings, ensuring consumer issues are addressed
The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has assured electricity consumers that only prudent and justifiable costs will be passed on to them when determining electricity tariffs.
Aisha Mahmud, the Commissioner for Consumer Affairs at NERC, emphasized the commission’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to electricity, which she described as a fundamental right.
At a three-day town hall meeting in Calabar, Cross River State, Mahmud stated, “We are here to resolve issues as we have done in other parts of the country, and it has been a huge success. Complaints will be resolved on the spot, and NERC will ensure this is done, except for technical issues that require further investigation.”
During the event, Angela Ajere, representing the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, assured consumers that the Distribution Company (DisCo) is committed to efficiently addressing and resolving all customer complaints.
