The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of the abducted former member of the House of Representatives, Joan Onyemaechi.
Onyemaechi was abducted on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in her church off DBS Road, Asaba, the Delta State capital, after gunmen killed her police orderly and driver.
Confirming her release on Saturday morning, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe said she was released on Friday night.
It could, however, not be ascertained, if ransom was paid to her abductors before her release.
Onyemaechi was a former member of the House of Representatives and a stalwart of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
