Delta: Abducted ex-Rep, Joan Onyemaechi regains freedom

Kidnappers have freed abducted former member of the House of Representatives in Delta State, Joan Onyemaechi.

Onyemaechi, a former Delta State commissioner for Technical Education, regained her freedom Friday night.

After her release, she was reportedly hospitalised at an undisclosed medical facility in Asaba where she is receiving medical attention.

The abductors had earlier asked for N1 billion as ransom, but it was not clear if that particular amount was paid before she was released.

Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the release of Onyemaechi, popularly know as Ada Anioma, on Friday night.

Edafe, however, did not give further details on the release of the kidnapped politician.

Onyemaechi was forcefully kidnapped by arms-wielding gunmen on July 30th from the premises of her church along the DBS Road, Asaba.

A policeman and her driver were confirmed killed by the gunmen while others sustained gunshots injuries during the abduction
