- Olusola and the three others were accused of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
- Their refusal to defend themselves against the allegations was seen as an admission of guilt.
The Kogi State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association has removed its suspended chairman, Dr. Baoku Olusola, and three other executive council members from the office.
This decision was adopted by members during the association’s 2024 Annual General Meeting in Lokoja.
The removed officials faced allegations of severe misconduct and abuse of power.
Dr. Austin Ojotule, Chairman of the Kogi State NMA Disciplinary Committee, noted that the suspended chairman and others failed to respond to allegations despite being given sufficient opportunity.
Their silence was deemed an admission of guilt.
Furthermore, Dr. Olusola was accused of violating the association’s bylaws by failing to convene a State Executive Committee meeting for six months.
Dr. Olusola unilaterally reported association members and hospital officials to law enforcement without exhausting internal conflict resolution mechanisms.
He also engaged a lawyer on behalf of the association without securing approval.
The suspended chairman disregarded the Abuja NMA NEC’s directive to resolve the state’s crisis.
The disciplinary committee was unable to access the association’s account due to it being frozen.
Dr. Ojotule’s report recommended the removal of the suspended chairman and others, effective from their suspension date.
He also proposed establishing an audit committee to review the association’s account.
