The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 17-year-old boy who was electrocuted while assisting his stepfather at a building construction site.

The incident was reported by the boy’s mother to the Agbado Police Division on August 2nd at 1:00 p.m., according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

The tragic event occurred when the boy, who was accompanying his stepfather—a welder—to work on scaffolding at a construction site on Church Street, Alagbado, stepped on a live wire.

The wire had been carelessly connected from an electric pole, resulting in his immediate death.

SP Hundeyin noted that the boy was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. A team of detectives from the division visited the scene, and the boy’s body has since been removed.

No signs of violence were found on the body, and the stepfather has been taken to the police station for questioning.
