- Recall that the protest, demanding the return of fuel subsidy, among others, kicked-off Thursday last week.

A large number of Nigerian Police personnel has been strategically positioned across key hotspots in Abuja as the Hunger Protest reaches its peak today, Saturday.
It was gathered that law enforcement agencies and other security forces intensified their monitoring efforts in the nation’s capital on Friday evening.
Critical entry points to the Eagle Square, Federal Secretariat, National Assembly Complex, Supreme Court, and Presidential Villa, all situated within the Three Arms Zone, have been reinforced with multiple security checkpoints.
Similarly, major thoroughfares leading to the MKO Abiola Stadium, initially designated as the protest venue for the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations, have been fortified with enhanced security measures.
This development follows the organizers’ declaration on Friday to stage a massive one-million-man march across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, marking the culmination of the protests.
It is worth noting that the protests, which commenced last Thursday, have been demanding the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, among other grievances.
Regrettably, the demonstrations have turned violent in several states, including Kano, Kanu, Plateau, Niger, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno, resulting in at least 15 fatalities, numerous injuries, and destruction of property.
