According to Akinajo, the travel time between Marina and Mile 2 has been reduced from 25 minutes to approximately 18 minutes. This improvement means trains will run every 18 minutes in both directions, allowing commuters to plan their journeys better.

“The new train schedule is expected to significantly reduce journey times, encourage more people to use the train system during off-peak periods, and lower transportation costs,” LAMATA stated on Saturday. Akinajo also mentioned that the current Sunday operation schedule will remain unchanged. Additionally, a 25% discount on fares will be offered to commuters travelling during off-peak periods between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily.

The Blue Line rail service began passenger operations in September 2023 and has already transported nearly two million passengers. This commercial operation began about eight months after former President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the project.
