- He disclosed that the kidnappers had reached out to the company to demand a ransom for their release
Two Chinese nationals were on Sunday afternoon abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Ogun State.
The victims identified as Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding were abducted in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road of the State.
It’s gathered that the foreigners, who work with Good One Carton Company, were kidnapped after leaving the company premises to visit their friends without any security operatives accompanying them.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Monday.
He disclosed that the kidnappers had reached out to the company to demand a ransom for their release.
Odutola said, “The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding money in exchange for their release.
She noted that security operatives in the state have begun a manhunt to rescue the victims.
“Our operatives in the Ewekoro Division, with the assistance of local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, thoroughly searched the entire Kémta Village forest for the duo but were unable to find them.”
She added that efforts are ongoing to secure their release
