President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of Service (HoS) of the Federation. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting commences.
Walson-Jack’s appointment, announced by the presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on July 17, took effect on August 14. She succeeded Folasade Yemi-Esan, who retired from civil service on August 13.
In his statement, Ngelale highlighted Walson-Jack’s extensive experience, noting that she was appointed Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017 and has served in various ministries since then. Before her role in the federal civil service, Walson-Jack was Bayelsa State’s Solicitor-General and served as the Permanent Secretary of the state’s Ministry of Justice.
President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Head of Service, Yemi-Esan, for her contributions and urged Walson-Jack to perform her duties with innovation, integrity, and strict adherence to the regulations governing the Federation’s Civil Service.
Walson-Jack holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the bar in 1987.
