A fatal road accident in Nigeria’s South-East state of Abia has left at eleven people dead.
The auto crash involved a commercial bus belonging to Abia Line Transport Company Ltd.
The accident reportedly happened near the Umuika Junction along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway on Sunday at about 12:45 pm.
The driver of the Sienna SUV was said to have lost control of the vehicle after falling asleep and rammed into a truck before crashing into the bush, resulting in the deaths of the passengers.
An eyewitness, Ochiegbu, who spoke with ABN TV said the accident was horrific, adding that he notified the men of FRSC about the incident.
Ochiegbu said he was coming from the Umuahia section of the road when he saw the accident scene.
Also, footage viewed on ABN TV showed sympathisers weeping profusely and trying to evacuate the victims from the road.
As of the time of this report, neither FRSC nor Abia State Police Command have issued a statement confirming the accident.
