Bello Matawalle, minister of state for defence, has commended Dapo Abiodun, Ogun governor on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by Henshaw Ogubike, his director of information and public relations, Matawalle said that the donation reflects a strong commitment to the country’s security and development.
Abiodun had earlier allocated 100 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy for the construction of a forward operating base in the state.
On August 9, the governor said the naval facility would be established at Olokola Free Trade Zone in the Ogun Waterside LGA of the state.
He said the facility would protect some strategic investments and safeguard the sovereignty of Nigeria at Tongeji Island, in the Ipokia LGA of the state.
The former governor of Zamfara said this move not only enhances the Nigerian Navy’s operational capabilities but also fortifies the country’s defense framework in the south-west, bolstering the “national security infrastructure” and reinforcing the “south-west region’s protection.”
