- The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure launched the MY-CNG App to help e-hailing drivers convert vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas
- NASENI offers a 50% discount on conversion costs, promoting cleaner and more affordable fuel options in Nigeria’s rideshare sector
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has launched a mobile application, MY-CNG App, aimed at helping e-hailing taxi drivers convert their vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This initiative is part of the Presidential CNG Initiative’s (Pi-CNG) Conversion Incentive Programme, specifically targeting the rideshare sector, including Uber and Bolt drivers.
During the launch, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted the importance of Pi-CNG in Nigeria’s ongoing gas revolution. He noted that the initiative is crucial in discussions about the country’s energy future, offering a 50% discount on conversion costs to drivers participating in the programme.
Halilu also mentioned that NASENI had recently commissioned a comprehensive CNG facility in collaboration with Portland and Dana Motors. This joint venture is part of NASENI’s broader vision to deliver market-ready products that reduce living costs, improve the quality of life, and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He further emphasized that CNG is a cleaner and more affordable fuel option for vehicles, potentially reducing transportation costs by up to 70% and delivering 40% savings for car owners.
