The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the Judicial Office Holders Salaries and Allowances Bill, 2024 into law.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Fagbemi highlighted that the President’s historic assent to the Bill has finally addressed the long-standing demand for better working conditions for judicial officers across the country, who have been on the same salary for nearly two decades.
The statement read: “President Tinubu has consistently demonstrated his commitment to sustainable reform in the administration of justice. This is a crucial component of that reform.
“The review of judicial remuneration is a significant first step toward achieving a judicial system that serves the interests of all Nigerians.”
Fagbemi also noted that his ministry, in collaboration with justice sector stakeholders, will continue to identify and resolve additional issues to strengthen the judiciary.
The AGF expressed deep gratitude to the 10th National Assembly for their concern for Nigeria’s judiciary and judicial officers, as demonstrated by their prompt passage of the Bill.
