- Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the council chairman, Dele Oshinowo, for regenerating a notorious slum in the area, known for its high crime rate
Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised the effectiveness of the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and their 37 Local Council Development Areas, citing a recent housing project as evidence of their success.
Speaking at the commissioning of the twin housing project in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the council chairman, Dele Oshinowo, for regenerating a notorious slum in the area, known for its high crime rate.
The project, delivered through a joint venture partnership with a private developer, comprises two estates: Raymond Estate with 64 units and Sterling Heights with 106 flats and apartments.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the schemes as an affirmation of the autonomy enjoyed by Local Government Areas in Lagos, highlighting the accountability and transparency shown by the Agboyi-Ketu council chairman.
He pledged to continue supporting council chairmen in delivering quality services to the populace, citing the importance of grassroots governance in achieving the state’s development goals.
The projects were hailed as a shining example of effective governance at the local level, with Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East, attributing their success to creativity and commitment.
This development comes as Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration seeks to drive irreversible growth in key sectors, including housing, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
