Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has pledged to reconnect Tangaza Local Government Area to the national grid soon, highlighting it as a priority for his administration.

The governor made the announcement on Friday during a thank-you visit to the area, part of his tour across the state’s 23 local government areas.

He stated that restoring electricity to areas that have been without power for years is a key focus.

“We are reconnecting eight local governments in Sokoto East Senatorial Zone that have been in darkness for the past eight years. Rabah, Wurno, Gwadabawa, and Goronyo are already back on the grid, while work is progressing in Isa, Sabon Birni, Illela, and Gada,” he said. The project, he added, has cost N1.2 billion.

During a separate visit to Binji Local Government Area, Governor Aliyu promised to address demands for improved road infrastructure.

Meanwhile, APC leader Aliyu Wamakko praised the governor’s efforts and urged continued support for both state and federal administrations to facilitate more development projects.
