Three passengers lost their lives on Friday in a tragic road accident in Enugu State, southeast Nigeria. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at Orie Emene, along the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway.

The crash happened when a truck loaded with laterite collided with a minibus that had stopped by the roadside to allow passengers to alight. The minibus was en route from Old Park, Enugu, to the Emene area.

A witness, Michael Okechi, said the truck crossed a railway line before ramming into the minibus.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Enugu State, Frank Agbakoba, confirmed the accident on Saturday but said the casualty figures were yet to be verified since police operatives arrived at the scene before FRSC officials.

“I know there was a crash there, but the police have the details. We will need to get the information from them to understand what happened,” Mr. Agbakoba stated.
